about us

SDG Baseball provides Christian homeschool families with a junior high baseball program offering excellent instruction, intentional biblical discipleship, trusted leadership, and a team culture built upon the truth of God’s Word.

7 distinctives

1) We Use Athletics as an Excuse for the Gospel
Baseball gives us opportunities to build relationships and make disciples of Jesus Christ.
2) We Build Men Before Athletes
Every baseball career ends. We are preparing young men for responsibilities that last far beyond the game.
3) We Strengthen Families
Parents are God's primary disciplers. Our program is designed to support the home, not compete with it.
4) We Honor the Local Church
We protect Sundays for Lord’s Day worship and keep Wednesday evenings free for family time and local church ministries. We expect families to be faithful members of a biblically sound local church.
5) Our Coaches Are Disciplers
Our coaches are carefully selected and trained to teach the game well while intentionally investing in young men.
6) We Pursue Excellence for God's Glory
We prepare carefully, communicate clearly, coach with purpose, and compete with excellence.
7) We Think Generationally
We are investing in young men who will one day lead homes, serve churches, coach others, and influence the next generation.

Biblical manhood

We use baseball as a training ground to develop young men through Scripture for the glory of God. Our aim is to prepare them to become faithful husbands, fathers who lead their homes according to God’s Word, and men of God who serve their local churches with humility and conviction.
Through instruction, personal example, correction, and accountability, we teach young men to accept responsibility, exercise self-control, persevere through difficulty, and serve others. We challenge them to undertake hard things and hold them to biblical standards when those challenges become difficult.
Keeping this purpose before us keeps baseball in its proper place: a tool for discipleship that serves the home and local church.

Statement of Faith

1. The Holy Scriptures
We believe the Bible, consisting of the sixty-six books of the Old and New Testaments, is the inspired Word of God. Every word of Scripture was breathed out by God and is therefore entirely true, trustworthy, authoritative, and sufficient.

The Bible is the final authority for all matters of faith, doctrine, conduct, family life, and ministry. No human tradition, personal experience, cultural opinion, or organizational policy possesses authority equal to or greater than the written Word of God.

Psalm 19:7–11; Psalm 119:105; John 17:17; 2 Timothy 3:16–17; 2 Peter 1:20–21
2. The Triune God
We believe there is one true and living God who eternally exists in three distinct persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Each person is fully God, possessing the same divine nature, power, glory, and perfection.

God is eternal, holy, sovereign, all-knowing, all-powerful, and worthy of all worship. He created all things, sustains all things, and rules over all things according to His perfect wisdom and will.

Genesis 1:1; Deuteronomy 6:4; Matthew 28:19; John 1:1–3; 2 Corinthians 13:14; Colossians 1:16–17

3. Creation and Humanity
We believe God created the heavens and the earth and everything in them. God created mankind in His image, giving every human being inherent dignity, value, and accountability before Him.

God created humanity male and female. Biological sex is a gift of God and is not subject to individual redefinition. Men and women are equal in dignity before God while being designed for distinct and complementary responsibilities.

God established marriage as the covenantal union of one biological man and one biological woman. Sexual intimacy is a good gift from God reserved exclusively for marriage.

Genesis 1:26–28; Genesis 2:18–25; Psalm 139:13–16; Matthew 19:4–6; Romans 1:24–27
4. Sin and the Fall
We believe Adam, the first man, rebelled against God and brought sin and death into the world. As a result of the Fall, every person is born with a sinful nature, stands guilty before God, and is unable to save himself.

Sin affects every part of human life. All people fall short of God’s glory and deserve His righteous judgment. Education, morality, athletics, discipline, and personal effort cannot reconcile a sinner to God.

Genesis 3:1–19; Psalm 51:5; Jeremiah 17:9; Romans 3:10–23; Romans 5:12–19; Ephesians 2:1–3
5. Jesus Christ
We believe Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God. He is truly God and truly man. He was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, lived a perfectly righteous life, performed mighty works, and taught with divine authority.

Jesus willingly died upon the cross as a substitutionary sacrifice for sinners. He bore the wrath of God and fully satisfied divine justice on behalf of His people. He was buried, bodily arose from the dead on the third day, ascended into heaven, and now reigns at the right hand of the Father.

Jesus Christ is the only Mediator between God and man and the only Savior of sinners.

Isaiah 53:4–6; Matthew 1:18–23; John 1:1–14; John 14:6; Romans 3:21–26; 1 Corinthians 15:3–4; 2 Corinthians 5:21; 1 Timothy 2:5
6. Salvation by Grace Alone
We believe salvation is entirely the work of God’s sovereign grace. It cannot be earned through good works, religious activity, family heritage, church attendance, athletic ability, or personal merit.

God saves sinners through the life, death, and resurrection of Jesus Christ. The benefits of Christ’s saving work are received through repentance and faith. Everyone who turns from sin and trusts in Christ alone is forgiven, declared righteous before God, adopted into God’s family, and given eternal life.

True salvation produces a changed life characterized by growing obedience to Christ. Good works do not produce salvation; they are the necessary fruit of salvation.

Mark 1:14–15; John 3:16–18; John 6:37–40; Romans 5:1; Romans 8:28–30; Ephesians 1:3–14; Ephesians 2:8–10; Titus 3:3–7
7. Holy Spirit and Sanctification
We believe the Holy Spirit is fully God. He convicts the world of sin, gives spiritual life to sinners, indwells every believer, and empowers Christians to understand and obey the Word of God.

Every true believer is progressively sanctified by the Holy Spirit. Although Christians continue to struggle against sin, they are called to pursue holiness, put sinful practices to death, develop godly character, and grow into greater conformity to Jesus Christ.

Christian maturity is demonstrated through humility, self-control, courage, endurance, purity, love, service, and obedience, not through talent, popularity, or outward success.

John 3:5–8; John 16:7–15; Romans 8:5–14; Galatians 5:16–25; Philippians 2:12–13; 1 Thessalonians 4:3; 2 Peter 1:3–8
8. The Local Church
We believe the local church is central to God’s design for the Christian life. Every Christian should be meaningfully committed to a faithful local church where the Word of God is preached, the ordinances are administered, spiritual leadership is exercised, believers are held accountable, and the saints are equipped for ministry.

SDG Baseball is not a replacement for the local church. Baseball practices, games, tournaments, and team activities must never become substitutes for gathered worship, pastoral oversight, or faithful church membership.

SDG Baseball therefore expects participating families to be actively involved in a faithful, like-minded local church and to remain accountable to its spiritual leadership.

Matthew 16:18; Acts 2:41–47; Acts 20:28; 1 Corinthians 12:12–27; Ephesians 4:11–16; Hebrews 10:24–25; Hebrews 13:17
9. The Christian Family
We believe the family is an institution created by God. Parents bear the primary responsibility for the instruction, discipline, and discipleship of their children.

SDG Baseball exists to support Christian parents in that responsibility, never to replace them. Coaches, administrators, and teammates should strengthen the work of the home by reinforcing biblical truth, honoring parental authority, and encouraging young men toward faithful Christian manhood.

The organization seeks to develop young men who are prepared to become faithful followers of Christ, committed church members, loving husbands, responsible fathers, courageous leaders, and humble servants.

Deuteronomy 6:4–9; Psalm 78:1–8; Proverbs 22:6; Ephesians 6:1–4; Colossians 3:20–21
10. Christian Conduct
We believe every area of life belongs to Jesus Christ. Christians are therefore called to honor God in their speech, attitudes, relationships, work, competition, and use of their bodies.

Players, coaches, leaders, and participating families are expected to conduct themselves according to biblical standards of truthfulness, purity, humility, respect, self-control, courage, and love.

Athletic competition does not excuse pride, dishonesty, uncontrolled anger, disrespect, vulgar speech, retaliation, selfish ambition, or mistreatment of others. How we compete is part of our Christian testimony.

Matthew 5:13–16; Romans 12:1–2; 1 Corinthians 6:19–20; 1 Corinthians 10:31; Ephesians 4:25–32; Colossians 3:17; Titus 2:11–14

11. Christ's Return and Final Judgement
We believe Jesus Christ will personally and visibly return. The dead will be raised, and every person will stand before God in judgment.

Those who belong to Christ will enter everlasting life in the presence of God. Those who remain in their sin and unbelief will face everlasting punishment. God will establish the fullness of His righteous kingdom, and His people will dwell with Him forever in the new heavens and new earth.

This hope calls Christians to live faithfully, courageously, and expectantly in the present age.

Matthew 25:31–46; John 5:28–29; Acts 1:9–11; 1 Corinthians 15:20–26; 2 Corinthians 5:10; Revelation 20:11–15; Revelation 21:1–5
12. The Glory of God
We believe the ultimate purpose of creation, salvation, family, church, work, education, and athletics is the glory of God.

Success cannot finally be measured by records, championships, statistics, recognition, scholarships, or advancement. These may be received gratefully, but they must never become our highest purpose.

SDG Baseball seeks excellence because God is worthy of our finest effort. We train, compete, lead, serve, win, and lose under the lordship of Jesus Christ.

Therefore, whether we eat or drink, practice or play, win or lose, we seek to do everything for the glory of God alone, Soli Deo Gloria.
