Set Your Eyes
Set Your Eyes
“1 If then you have been raised with Christ, seek the things that are above, where Christ is, seated at the right hand of God.
2 Set your minds on things that are above, not on things that are on earth.
3 For you have died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.
4 When Christ who is your life appears, then you also will appear with him in glory.”
Colossians 3:1-3
From the very outset of the Ambassador’s life, he sets his focus on “the things that are above.” The Ambassador recognizes that he is not of this world, and therefore should not live according to the things of this world. The Ambassador is in a foreign land, representing his King.
We are reminded of this because our life is “hidden with Christ in God.” An Ambassador is a believer in Jesus Christ — one who has recognized his sin in accordance with the Holiness of God, repented of that sin, and put his faith and trust in Jesus Christ Alone for his salvation. Once in Christ, the believer because an Ambassador. The Ambassador is not some second level of Christianity. The Ambassador is a follower of Christ — a disciple.
The Ambassador’s future home is secured in the Heavens with his Almighty King. But the Ambassador realizes that his King has given him a mission — “we urge you, on behalf of Christ, be reconciled to God.”
