"All This Is From God" | 2 Corinthians 5:18

"All This Is From God"

“Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation. The old has passed away; behold, the new has come. All this is from God, who through Christ reconciled us to himself and gave us the ministry of reconciliation; that is, in Christ God was reconciling the world to himself, not counting their trespasses against them, and entrusting to us the message of reconciliation.”
2 Corinthians 5:17-19

In this section of the passage of Scripture where the Apostle Paul is writing about what it means to live the life of an Ambassador for Christ, there is a clear exegesis of reconciliation and redemption. There is a clear picture of the transformative Gospel, which occurs in the new birth. "If any man be in Christ, he is a new creation." This is powerful and life-changing!

But the five words in the text that are captivating are “All this is from God.” Specifically coming off of verse 17, which is centered on “the new creation” and our Justification. And then Paul makes an incredible statement... “All this is from God.”

What should be five of the most beautiful words ever penned and what should be one of the most impactful statements in the history of the universe is instead a phrase of controversy. In our sinful humanity we attempt every possible route to fit ourselves into the “All” and it is because we totally misunderstand our salvation and our Justification.

Salvation is BY God’s Grace.
Salvation is FROM God’s Wrath.
Salvation is BECAUSE OF God’s Love.
Salvation is FOR God’s Glory.

“All of this is from God.”

It is GOD who chose you from before the foundation of the world.

It is GOD who makes you alive in Him.

It is GOD who adopts you.

It is GOD who calls you a son.

It is GOD who declares you not guilty.

It is CHRIST who has provided ALL of the righteousness.

It is CHRIST who has taken on ALL of your sin.

It is CHRIST who has taken the punishment.

It is GOD who has poured out ALL of His wrath on Christ.

And it is GOD who gives us the opportunity to be reconciled to Him.

It is GOD who gives us the gift of Grace.

And it is GOD who freely gives us the gift of Faith.

And it is GOD who has provided His Son for us.

And it is GOD who receives the Glory in all of this!

“All this is from God!”
