Biblical Distinctive #11: Winning & Losing

In this episode of the Ambassadors Baseball podcast, we discuss how Christians should think about winning and losing.

While sports culture often teaches athletes to find their identity in results, Scripture calls us to something deeper. We explore the dangers that come with both victory and defeat—how winning can lead to pride and self-sufficiency, while losing can reveal misplaced identity and discouragement. Drawing from James 1 and other biblical principles, we discuss how God uses both success and adversity to shape character, produce endurance, and deepen our dependence on Him.

Players are encouraged to compete hard while keeping their identity rooted in Christ rather than performance. Parents are challenged to consider what they communicate after games and whether they are reinforcing identity in results or in the gospel.

Ultimately, this episode reminds us that trophies fade, seasons end, and statistics are forgotten, but Christ remains worthy in both victory and defeat.
