Biblical Distinctive #6: Discipline & Self-Control

In this episode of the Ambassadors Baseball podcast, we explore the biblical role of discipline and self-control within the mission of discipleship.

While discipline is essential for growth and development, it is not the goal of our ministry—discipleship is. This episode challenges players and parents to rethink discipline, not as a way to build identity or prove worth, but as a tool God uses to shape character. Drawing from Scripture, we highlight the difference between performance-driven discipline and Spirit-produced self-control. True discipline flows from a changed heart and is rooted in obedience to Christ, not pressure or pride. Parents are encouraged to model and guide discipline in a way that shepherds the heart, not just behavior.

Our goal is to develop disciplined athletes who are first and foremost disciples—young men whose lives are shaped by Christ both on and off the field.
