Resolved Academy, Week 3

Miss Kristen's Desk

After three weeks of school, I am thrilled to see all that our students have already learned at Resolved Academy! We have spent a great deal of time introducing the Reformation and are now working on building off of that foundation. The 5 Solas of the Reformation have been a great starting point for understanding many of the topics that I have taught. From learning about God’s grace during chapel, to studying past Reformers, we can clearly see and appreciate these principles.

In our science class, I introduced the study of physics to the students. We learned about power, motion, and force and were able to visualize these terms by launching a magnet with a catapult. We connected this to the fact that God created all things - energy, matter, and life. In our apologetics class, we talked about how God is self-sufficient. God does not need anything outside of Himself. We spent much time discussing what things we as humans need (air, water, etc.) and what God needs (nothing). Lastly, in our Biblical History/Geography class, we reviewed the 5 Solas of the Reformation before moving into our discussion of John Wycliffe. We learned about what the Roman Catholic Church is and some of their teachings that John Wycliffe disagreed with. We then worked through an activity where we used scripture to determine if a statement was true or false.

Next week, we will have our first practicum! Our students will be learning about table etiquette. I look forward to seeing them learn this important life skill! I am thrilled to be teaching my students and have so enjoyed watching them learn and grow over these past couple of weeks. I look forward to seeing their continued growth and appreciate your prayers for the school and for our students.
